Learning Works for Children is a family run day nursery based in a spacious building on Carlton Road which benefits from 3 large rooms, a large physical play area and our own outdoor garden. Our Nursery and Play Scheme has been established since 2006 after moving from our base at Learning Works for Women (previously Notts Women’s Training Scheme, next to Victoria Centre.) We have a dedicated team of qualified staff some who have worked together for 20 years, our aim is still to provide high quality child care, in a safe and caring environment, ensuring that each child receives the opportunity to grow and develop and learn through play.
We acknowledge that children grow up in various family settings, reflecting a range of values and beliefs. We are sensitive to this and believe that all children should be valued and their development made possible in an environment that respects their individual identity, culture and heritage. We pride ourselves on our welcoming homely environment, commented on by many of our visitors.

Parental involvement
We see our nursery as a ‘family’ and have an open door policy so parents and children feel able to share ideas and to contribute to nursery life. Parental involvement is important to us to ensure that your child has the best possible care with their individual needs being met.

Your child’s Key person will support and encourage your child learn new skills at their own pace, by weekly planning based on their interests, observations and discussions with you. They will also keep a record of their development which consists of art work, photographs, observations and all their achievements, which you get to keep.
